Tap Dance
Silver Screen Dance presents...adult tap dance classes!
Tap dance today has developed in a variety of styles, but no-one can beat the stars of the silver screen era for graceful and joyful tapping. Inspired by the dancers of Hollywood musicals, Silver Screen Dance teaches this fun and elegant style in relaxed and friendly classes for all adults. Tap dancing is great exercise, it tones muscles and develops your balance, but more importantly, it is a lot of fun! Join us to discover for yourself the fun and satisfaction of tap dancing as we combine movement and music, style and rhythm.
My students come from a range of dance backgrounds - from those who took many classes as kids to those who have only recently started dancing as an adult - and are a mixture of ages and genders. I try to make sure that everyone in the class is being challenged to improve their technique and learn new steps, whilst keeping the challenges achievable and the classes relaxed and enjoyable. In each class we do a warm up, a variety of exercises to teach new steps and improve technique, and work on a dance which we build on throughout the term. We dance to a range of music - vintage swing music features heavily but anything from motown to mambo is fair game if it fits well with the steps and inspires a dance.
Classes run throughout the year in a series of short courses; please see below for your next chance to join a class.
Upcoming classes...
Beginners Tap Dance - 6 Week Course
Six Wednesdays 7.00-8.00pm
Starting 6th November 2024
At BN1 Arts (Vantage Point, BN1 4GW)
£53
Suitable for adults who have just a little or no previous tap dance experience as well as those who have tapped more but a long time ago and would like to revise the basic steps. On this course we will learn the fundamental steps and technique of tap dance. We'll practice basic moves such as shuffles, tap-springs, pick-ups and rolls and link these together into simple but fun sequences to build confidence and get you dancing.
Please note that you do not need to have proper tap shoes to take this course - any flat or low-heeled shoes that don't grip the floor will be fine to start off in. If you would like to buy tap shoes though I am happy to advise on where you can buy them and which style to go for.
To book your place on this course please contact me and I will send details of how to complete your booking. You can find information on the venue, travel and my cancellation policy under FAQs, but please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.
